I'm the genius of useless stuff . . .

About Me

I used to be cool, in my head. Then I got old. Now that coolness has seemingly evaded me, I have set my sights lower. I currently aspire to be better than: Hitler, Pauly Shore, Jan-Michael Vincent, Beelzebub, melted ice cream, black licorice, brussel sprouts, liver and onions, Culture Club, Atari 2600 joysticks (half-life = 2 months), Mama's Family, Titanic, US Olympic television coverage, fat girls wearing tight pants with midriffs bared, lame uninspired tattoos, hangnails, paper/cardboard cuts, mosquitoes, the squirrel that chewed through my garbage can, turtle doves that wake me up in the morning, life without air conditioning, my smelly socks, crack invading underwear, meth dealers, people that think Sinbad is funny, Sinbad, salmon cakes / patties / whatever else they might be called, emo- bands, and missed three foot putts for birdie. So far, I'm batting about .500 on my new-found goals . . .

My Interests

Music, sports, outdoors, wildlife, biochemical discovery, discussions of religion / philosophy, various things me mum and da wouldn't want to know about . . .(oh, and appending ellipses to a large percentage of my thoughts and writings)

I'd like to meet:

David Lowery, Neil Gaiman, Steve Earle, Tim Burton, Lou Holtz, Charlie Weis; in the off-chance that none of the aforementioned are hanging around myspace looking to meet me, then I'm also up for meeting anyone with similar tastes in music, non-bandwagon sports fans, people with cool tattoos, animal lovers, people who live in cool places that like to offer up their sweet living quarters to virtual strangers, open-minded christians, anyone who makes or knows where to find good mexican or cajun/creole food, anyone who wants to serve as my personal punching bag when i get frustrated, or anyone else who doesn't think they're better than me (until / unless they've proven it . . .)

Music:

Cracker, DMB, Son Volt, Wilco, Queens of the Stone Age, Garbage, Audioslave, Soundgarden, Steve Earle, Del McCoury Band, Whiskeytown, Ryan Adams, Guster, Tift Merritt, Radiohead (especially The Bends), Jayhawks, U2, Led Zeppelin, Beatles, The Who, Hem

Movies:

Nightmare Before Christmas, The Usual Suspects, Batman Begins, Hoosiers, Sin City, School of Rock, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars (even the new ones, but not as much), Garden State, Dumb and Dumber, Top Secret, O Brother Where Art Thou, American Beauty, The Matrix, Shrek, Austin Powers, Punch Drunk Love, Tommy Boy, The Ring, V for Vendetta

Television:

The Simpsons, Family Guy, NFL, NHL, PGA, college basketball and football

Books:

Anything by Neil Gaiman or C.S. Lewis; Fantasy (especially A Song of Ice and Fire, Otherland, and what I've read thus far from China Mieville), science-related non-fiction; Bible (Ecclesiastes affirms much of my view of the world)

Heroes:

Jesus; I admire many others, but wouldn't aspire to be exactly like any other . . .

On the verge . . .
