DJ Bass developed her musical interests at a very young age when she taught herself to read music and play piano. By the time she was 8, she began studying piano under a handful of jazz pianists in New Jersey. A few years later she began to study French Horn and Trumpet. As a gifted student, she was invited to play in William Paterson University's Concert Band at only 14 years old. DJ Bass had the opportunity to play alongside piano master, Kenny Baron, and Trombonist for Duke Ellington's band, Al Grey. Upon graduating High School, she was awarded a scholarship in music. Briefly after starting college, DJ Bass felt that a formal education in music was not for her and took some time to explore other avenues.
Away from the pressures of formal education, DJ Bass was able to open her mind to the sounds of electronic music. At first, she was going out and dancing to many House music nights in NYC and was later introduced to Jungle and Drum and Bass. The freedom of music grabbed hold of her once again and she became more involved in the electronic music scene.
At this point, all paths led DJ Bass to learn to DJ and began playing shows within months. Eager to learn more, DJ Bass enrolled in Recording School in Phoenix, AZ and became assistant engineer at a recording studio where she helped to engineer a number of classical and opera pieces. Soon after moving to Phoenix, she was invited to play for Konkrete Jungle AZ and later went on to assisting DJ Wednesday with putting on events for Konkrete Jungle AZ and Hipstep Massive. DJ Bass has played along side Supa TC Iz, Jumping Jack Frost, Simon Bassline Smith, DJ Empress, I-Cue, Odi and Micky Finn and has played in cities across the US.
DJ Bass' heart will always be in music and she proves it when she's rocking the dancefloor. With the new year starting, she plans to release her first album of original tracks and to continue to make the crowds move to her sound.
DJ Bass is now taking bookings for 2009.
