About Me
This trio can be considered one of the most exciting new bands in the german jazz scene. they go far beyond
the traditional ways of treating the tenor-bass-drums-setting and explore musical worlds between complex
composition and intuitive interaction with powerful clarity. Robert Landfermann and Jonas Burgwinkel
hit the scene with a loud bang and were in shortest terms the most sought-after rhythm-section, not only
in their hometown Köln. Combined with Niels Klein..s highly personal voice and improvisational approach on tenorsaxophone
this group was originally formed by the bassplayer to realize his musical visions. but very soon it became clear
that this is a collective of brothers in mind. Its all about creating pure music in the very moment.
Their improvisations can rise up to highest grades of density without losing any transparence while the instrumental
virtuosity of each player is just the tool to shape a musical idea instantly or change directions in a split second.
Robert Landfermann has worked with international musicians like Charlie Mariano, Markus Stockhausen, Joachim Kühn,
John Taylor, Simon Nabatov, Claudio Puntin, Lars Moeller a.m.o. He has toured all 5 continents , playing on festivals like
North-Sea-Jazz-Festival, Jazzbaltica Salzau, Casa del Jazz - Rome, JazzNow Sydney,....and recorded for various record labels
such as ACT, Enja, Jazzwerkstatt, Jazzhausmusik, Pirouet, Double Moon...
In 2009 he got the Jazz-stipendia of the city of Cologne and the renown WDR-Jazzprice for improvisation. Being the first bassplayer rewarded with one of these prices and the first musician getting them both in one year.
Niels Klein has worked with Jazzmusicians like Nils Wogram, Albert Mangelsdorf, WDR-BigBand, Jeff Hamilton, Toots Thielmanns,

2005 or Jazzcologne Crossing Borders 2004. His own releases are Niels Klein Trio (2004) and Niels Klein Tentett (2007).
In 2008 he was composer / conductor of the EBU European Youth Jazz Orchestra, which is closely linked to the danish organisation
