Stratos[Cygnus]was born in Serres, Greece (17/11/1981), where he took his first piano lessons at the age of 12. He quickly realized the importance of music in his life and soon he started being involved with numerous bands and projects around the area. Mostly influenced by rock/metal Stratos released three demo albums (vocals) and gave his first gigs at the age of 16. In 1999 he moved to United Kingdom where he began playing the electric bass and at the same time he was attending university. He is an owner of a Bachelor degree in Broadcasting and Multimedia, a Masters in Music and Studio Composition and a Masters in Computer Science.
Being primarily self taught, and according to his eclectic taste for anything extreme and avant-garde he attended Newcastle Upon Tyne university where he studied electric bass, studio technology and electro-acoustic composition next to Bennett Hogg (performer/composer) and Neil Harland(bass mentor).(…also been taken few theoretical advises from the great jazz saxophone player Tim Garland). Influenced from pioneers such as Karl Stockhausen, Iannis Xenakis, Brian Eno and as well as up to date modern musicians (Squarepusher, Aphex Twin), Stratos composed he’s first and still unreleased album entitled “Cygnus X-II” back in 2003. At the same time he was also composing and performing with No Name Band (pop/rock) in UK and Greece, as well as with smaller projects like Wildhoney (blues/rock) and a Joe Satriani Tribute band. In the spring of 2007 he auditioned and finally joined metallers VERT, having already released their debut album “Accepting Denial” and been classified as one of UK’s top newcomer metal bands. Currently his touring and writing new material for VERT’s second album, scheduled to be recorded in the summer of 2008.

TASTY REVIEW FROM TUNED MAGAZINE (Issue No 5)
