CHIEF AKA "MUSCLE CAR SHAWTY"

About Me

So patriotic, he is the American dream! Hailing from the streets of Decatur, Georgia known as the Eastside of Atlanta this rap pusher has an I.Q. for his craft that unquestionably separates him from all newcomers. An edgy crisp sound, delivery, and a persona that all the ladies leave their tepees cracked at night for, the Chief makes up an unmatched talent destined for instant stardom.
“Natural born leader,” is what many refer to him as, so the name is not only an alias but it reflects his lifestyle. “Ever since we were kids this dude was always winning something! On every level, individual stuff and team accolades, so coaches just started calling him Chief because he was so mature for his age and the name just stuck,” says his longtime hustle buddy “Cuz Cuz”.
On January 15, 1983, the same day Martin Luther , Jr. was born, so was Javon Antonio Smith. Chief, as his known stage name, began has rap roots at the age of 14 when he was a freshman Cedar Grove high school performing in talent showcases with his group the S.W.A.T. Team after basketball games of which he played! From then Chief has diligently kept his star a blaze while pursing a solo career.
Chief has a very mature and realistic outlook on the music business. “I make music, therefore I am an artist. I am a performer, therefore I am a personality.” The passion that Chief gives to each song is the same contagious vibe that the hoods, cities, and provinces all respect and relate to. Putting in grind work and gaining notoriety across the region, Chief has toured with some major independent artists including Gangsta Boo formerly of Three 6 Mafia’s camp performing their song “Get Back Space” on an eight-city tour throughout the Southeast region.
Reviews of the shows highlight Chief’s stage swagger and mainstream appeal that captivates many loyal female fans and young followers. Chief has a way of coaching and inspiring thru his music but still finds room to be materialistic which he calls it bridging the gap. “I try not to preach, but I have so much to say, and sometimes I can come off as somebody’s big brother,” says Chief.
Chief takes pride in being a home grown Atlanta native especially being that their so many out-of-towners currently in his city. Just riding with the Chief you would find that instead of getting on I-20 or other major highways, he would rather take you thru the outskirts and backstreets that only real Atlanta cats know about. Chief comes from a thorough background and has a long history and family ties. Chief gets respect from his peers by being the same person he was before the rap. He remains level headed thru what ever success he may have. “I guess I was cool before I started rapping. I been hav’n the Jordans and chains and everything thing these rappers glorify before the deal, so its not that much of a desperation for me and a lot of dudes need rap cause they were lame in school and they use the music to recreate their childhood,” says Chief.
Taking a glimpse at him you would think he has already sold record numbers by all the heavy jewelry he wears. According to his mother Paula, Chief would always look the part and taught her son the importance of having an aura and style.
On the pursuit of becoming a musical icon, Chief has composed a 50 song catalog of raps. His flair for delivery can be described as an educated thug, cutting edge, and street witty in cleverly making things clear so that people can relate to his metaphors. Already seeing some success, Chief’s introductory demo entitled “Patriotic” has blessed the ears of over 5,000 listeners across the Southeast. “I think people weren’t ready for me to sound like I already had a deal, and I didn’t. I just put it together so tight I went over niggas head. The streets felt my demo like it was an album,” says Chief.
The way he puts his songs together, you would think that a bidding war was about to erupt once majors get an experience of his fire. Chief is like a “diamond in the rough” meaning that he is one meeting away from signing a deal that could change his life!SEND ALL BOOKING OFFERS, DROP REQUEST OR INQUIRIES TO [email protected]

CHIEF - Commander and Chief. A brief description that holds a lot of weight. It's a name that Decatur born rapper Chief has been representing since he was a kid. A longtime winner and the head of his "class", this overachiever has made his name known by working with Three Six Mafia's Gangsta Boo and using his background as one to make him not just a street rapper, but a rapper with a real "I.Q". Born the same day as MLK, this southern boy has created his own following—never losing sight of what's really real. To get the inside story, check him out at www.myspace.com/thechiefatl.
