My name is Mike "Tater" Haviland. I was born in Southwest Missouri and raised up huntin', fishin', and trapping. Everyday after school I would head out to the woods to spend some time. As I was going through high school, I knew I wanted to pursue a career that would allow me to spend time in the outdoors. When I was a sophomore, a friend of the family called and wanted to know if I wanted to go to Mississippi to film a deer hunt for him. He had started a small production company producing archery hunting videos. We didn't kill anything on that trip, but it got me very interested in learning more about filming. However, I always considered it a hobby. I decided to go to college to get a degree as a wildlife biologist. After 1 1/2 years I decided to take a semester off of college to pursue other interests. This is when it finally clicked about the possibility of becoming a freelance videographer for outdoor companies. It finally happened with some good luck, meeting the right people, and a strong desire to succeed. Companies like Bass Pro Shops, Thompson/Center Arms, Lohman Game Calls, Hunters Specialties, The National Wild Turkey Federation, and several others all have hired me to film tv shows for them as a freelancer. I am currently working as a producer for BOSS Outdoor Productions. We are producing all of the NRA shows, "American Rifleman", "American Hunter", and "American Guardian". They are all airing on The Outdoor Channel. For the airtimes, visit The Outdoor Channel website. We are also working on 2-3 shows that will start airing during 3rd quarter of 2008.I have finally got my outfitting business up and running!!
