About Me
The J. Wunder Experience is a multicultural American funk and soul music band that is destined to take the music world by storm; composed of J. Wunder (lap/steel guitar), Tiffany Ghent (lead vocalist), Logan Wilson (drums/percussion), Sean Fernandez (bass), and Lisa Lang (organ).Front man J. Wunder, marvels at how the J. Wunder Experience truly began when he taught and trained himself to play the lap steel guitar at the tender age of 13. “I actually started out playing the drums. I wasn’t that interested in playing the steel even though my father and grandfather were legendary players, until one day a cousin was ready to throw his steel guitar away and I told him that I would take it and make use of it.â€Born and reared in Fort Pierce, Florida where he and his oldest sister and fellow band mate Tiffany Ghent and their family attended House of God, Keith Dominion church organization, J. Wunder whose birth name is Aubrey Ghent Jr., began playing the steel guitar in the House of God Church, which used steel guitars in worship services. The instrument is referred to in many African American Pentecostal style churches as Sacred Steel. After much encouragement from family and friends to take their gifts to another dimension J. Wunder and Tiffany began The J. Wunder Experience with calling up fellow band mates Logan, Lisa, and Shawn who were all equally willing to and tampered with night clubs with the desire to introduce America’s younger generation to what Tiffany calls “the epitome of real music…music that you’re forced to hear with the most cleaver beat you’ll ever hear and that’s your heart.â€The group’s sound is inspired by successful 1970s funk bands such as Mother’s Finest, Earth, Wind & Fire and Sly & the Family Stone, another multicultural band comprised of former members of the Church of God in Christ. The J. Wunder Experience has shared the stage with musical luminaries Gerald Levert, Trick Daddy, Duece Poppi, Jeffrey Osborne, Ann Nesby, Prophet Jones, Chaka Khan, The Gap Band, Roberta Flack just to name a few. The J. Wunder Experience has also performed on BET's very own "Soundstage" in order to promote BET's powerful "Wrap It Up" H.I.V./AIDS awareness campaign. The power house band is moving with the spirit of excellence and is demanding attention like no other. Their motto has always been “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding; in all ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.â€
