About Me

found this retro layout at HOT FreeLayouts.com :: MyHotComments ---------------Brit Stokes Has nurtured a passion for music since early childhood. He began playing the piano at the young age of eight and eventually moved on to the drums. He finally settled on his instrument of choice , guitar, around the age of ten. He began writing his own style of country music at the age of twelve. From there he developed a style that is influenced by many of the greats, both rock and country. In 1995 he moved to Dallas Texas and founded the Award winning Group Cheyenne. Cheyenne began playing the club scene and it wasn’t long before they grew a huge following. In 1999 Brit was asked to sing at the coveted Terry Awards in Dallas/Fort worth. It was then that he realized that his Band Cheyenne was up for the Vocal Group of the Year. After putting on a riveting performance before a large group of his peers, including Johnny Bush, Brit and his band Cheyenne went on to win the Award for “Vocal Group of the Year”. Energized by the recognition Brit and his band decided it was time to step up their game and start trying to get into some of the larger venues in the Dallas/Ft worth area. They landed the big ones such as, Billy Bob’s Texas, where Brit was able to open up for big name acts including Travis Tritt, Rhascle Flatts, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Charlie Robinson, Pat Green and many more. They also played Venues such as The Top Rail, made famous by Toby Keith and his Easy Money Band, The Legendary Crystal Chandelier , The Rodeo Exchange in the historic Ft Worth Stock Yards, W. W. Fairfields, Cowboys Arlington and many many others. As time past Brit had a longing for more in his Musical endeavors. In Sept. 2001 Brit made his first trip to Nashville. He fell in love with the Music scene and decided right then he had to make the move. He went back to Texas to fulfill the rest of the years touring schedule with his band Cheyenne. During the Month of Oct. 2001, Brit was contacted by the Committee that resided over the Terry Awards. They wanted him to sing, yet again, at the Award show. That year Brit and his Band Won the “Peoples Choice Award” and Brit went on to win the “Male Vocalist of the Year”. At the end of Dec. Brit played his last gig with Cheyenne. Now the reining “Male Vocalist of the Year” Brit packed up everything to his name and made the move to Nashville. “They Say you have to be present to win, so here I am” says Brit. Since moving to Nashville Brit has made many great contacts and has written with some of the best writers in town. Honing his craft along the way. In every show he strives to put on the best performances of his career, knowing that one day it will take him to the “Big Stage”.
