Drummer and Percussionist.Born in the city of Belo Horizonte, Brazil, started his music education in 1983 at “Milton Nascimento’s Musica de Minas†and at the Music Conservatory of MG. in 1984, traveled throughout Brazil, recorded and performed on live T.V., concerts, radio shows, and theater.Moved to Chicago in 1991, and has been working as a drummer and percussionist ever since. In Chicago has participated of various Brazilian, latin Jazz, and world music groups, among many are Paulinho Garcia’s Jazzmineiro, Ensemble Kalinda, Chicago Immigrant Orchestra, Grazyna Auguscik, Mattew Skoller; from 2004 to 2006 was an invited musician of the Joe Vasconcellos US/Canada tours (one of Chiles most well known singer/composer in South America).Hijazz is one of the bands that he incorporates Brazilian, Latin and Arabic Jazz. In 2008 has released two new Cds with his brother Paulinho Garcia, and there is a new one schedule to be released in January, look at www.paulinhogarcia.com for all the new releases.
