About Me

Born in southern Indiana, raised in the mountains of East Tennessee and a resident of DeKalb Co, Alabama since 1975. I've travelled over most of this country and in a few other countries as well, and I've found there's no place I'd rather be than in the mountains, taking the backroads, windows down. I have driven U.S. Hwy 11 from New Orleans to New York, taking it in stages and finally getting to do the NO to B'ham leg this year. It's fun to stop at the mom-n-pop places along the way. There's alot to see on the backroads of our beautiful country; you just have to slow down and get off the freeway to see it...

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Talented, amusing, intelligent (not necessarily "book learnin") people who can carry on a decent conversation or just be quiet and enjoy the scenery. People who aren't afraid to sing out loud when they hear a song they love on the radio. People who, without regard to financial status, make a positive difference in the world around them. I'd like to meet people who make me think, smile, try harder and want to DO, not just to BE.

Trash is trash

I was driving to work this week via one of the scenic routes (there are several roads by which I can arrive at my office from home... just depends on how quickly I need to be there) and my heart sank ...

We Three Kings...well, Two Kings and a Kingette

Musings on a coldish November day in Mentone

I sit here at my desk and feel a bit of a chill, in spite of the flannel shirt I wear over my turtleneck. The weather channel tells me it is 61 degrees here at Mentone, but my John Deere thermome...

Leaf song

Leaves swirling and dancing, set aglow by the sun's kiss Rustle their greetings to me as I pass and set them to flying again Driving slowly with the window down on this winding mountain road In n...

Floyd Fest 07 Releasing your inner hippie Chapter 2

The music inside the grounds of Floyd Fest was as varied as those in attendance. Gospel Bluegrass was our first venue (brother Jim decided to have his palm read while Dottie and I listened to the Coal...
