EMERGING PATHS

About Me

Formed in October 2006 by founder members Trevor and Matt, who have been close friends for a number of years. Between them they discovered a unique songwriting partnership trading off lyrics, riffs, bass lines, vocal harmonies, drum tracks and managed to pen nearly ten songs in the space of a few months. The duo were joined by Priscilla, a young bassist from Belgium who was loved . She was unable to commit full-time so the boys continued to build on the songs already written. Trev's brothers Dave and Colin would sit in on the song writing sessions and came up with lyrics for more songs, Dave was particularly influential and took over the vacant bassist slot. With the help of Cubase, Sound Forge and Matt's perfectionism, the trademark tone of Emerging Paths music was carefully honed. When performing live Trevor and Matt would often revert their songs back into dry acoustic renditions around their local bars and clubs, which proved very successful. Dave had to take a back step with his commitment as his responsibilities took priority. After a number of months recording demo tracks and accruing more than twenty songs, another close friend got involved in the writing of songs and eventual studio rehearsals. Terry, a drummer of varying genres sat down with Matt to work on how to humanise their digital sequences and subsequently brought a rougher edge to the music. Trev switched to bass guitar giving a greater sense of completion as they strived for a more complete band set up. In 2007 even more songs emerged from the trio and the sound began to sharpen as the jamming sessions became more frequent. In February 2008 the band went through a hiatus with Trev deciding to embark on his travels around most of Asia and with obstacles coming up against Matt and Terry, things started to look less likely to happen for the forseeable future. However, the connection remained strong and no matter what side of the world these guys were on, through the help of the internet and gut determination, the creativity kept coming. With more than thirty songs demoed musically Trev returned to the UK in October to take a break from the travelling and catch up with the band to jam and lay down vocals.Since then Matt's brother Yohan, a great lead guitarist and musical theorist, took heed to the call and joined the set up after many months of speculation. The brothers hadn't written or played music together for nearly ten years. He started to put his own unique slant on their sound with a combination of additional guitar parts, squealing solos and new lyrics. He has played an influential role in this band by challenging the material and thereby adding a new dimension in a bid to take things towards the next step.Meaningful songwriting and good musical composition has been the nucleus of this group with a lot of quality material to offer so have a listen to the tracks. Although still relatively inexperienced in playing live as a full set, it is only a matter of time before this South East London quartet become noticed.Be prepared for soon your path will merge with theirs !

Sounds Like: It's an interesting blend of all genres that have graced such terminology as 'hard rock' or 'metal, but it's not so easy to sum them up by referring to a selection of bands in particular.Emerging Paths are a very diverse and efficient machine with riffs of steel, molten lava guitar solos, deep rooted bass lines, thunderous drum beats and emotionally charged vocals stemming from their lyrical ideologies.Check out our site at ReverbNation to here more tracks!!
