About Me

Kevin Amos is the Pittsburgh Area Coordinator for Soul-Patrol.com. He is also the producer and host of “One to One” on 88.3 WRCT-FM (www.wrct.org) His professional career spans nearly 30 years in the field of broadcasting.He has logged well over 30,000 hours on non-commercial radio as a voluntee and a independent radio producer since 1978!! Kevin has produced programs for talk radio at WCXJ-AM, a top rated morning show at FM1047 the Beat (Clear Channel), and a live interactive sports show with the Champions Association. He is also the former program director/station manager of WYEP-FM(1978-1984).Kevin is the former Communications Director for the Thomas Merton Center (2007-2008). The center is a long established peace and justice organization. He was also formerly employed as Program Coordinator for the City of Pittsburgh at CITIPARKS in the Office of Special Events and Community Affairs. There he was part of a team that planned and coordinated events like the Great Race and Reservoir of Jazz. He had worked in that office since 2001. Kevin is currently Staff Educator for SLB Radio Productions. He works with chidren and teens teaching them audio techniques.Kevin has also contributed to the Internet as a cyber journalist for the Music Bulletin Board on Prodigy Internet Services and Soul-Patrol.com, the world’s largest independent Black music Web site. He is also a freelance writer for the New Pittsburgh Courier, one of the oldest Black newspapers in the country.Kevin also has an extensive social service background working with youth, families, and homeless and mental health consumers. He is also an advocate of community development and historic presevation within the African American community.His expertise is economic development throught the arts.His involvement in the arts spans most of his life. His has performed in church and school choirs through grade school and high school, acted in children’s theater groups as a high school and college student, been a committed arts advocate and theater arts student, and played in bands in such places as CBGB’s. He is co-producer of AGAP RADIO / The Festival Hour, a program dedicated to the arts and also producer and co-host of Ebony Spectrum. Some of his mentors include Rob Penny, August Wilson, Bob Johnson, and Dr. Harry Clark (his first music teacher).
