My name is Daniel Griffith. I am an independent filmmaker operating out of Chattanooga, TN. Over the past 3 years, I have been traveling across the United States collecting interviews and other visual material for a feature-length documentary about the life and film releases of K. Gordon Murray, a man responsible for distributing more than 60 feature films in only two decades. This year... that journey will come to an end, and the world will finally know his story.From the late 1950's to the early 1970's, K. Gordon Murray produced and distributed the cult classic's "SANTA CLAUS" (the 1959 Mexican fantasy film), "The Robot vs. the Aztec Mummy", "Shanty Tramp", "The Brainiac", along with numerous Santo and Wrestling Women films. And yet, his own story has been shrouded in both myth and conjecture since his untimely death almost thirty years ago. This production will invite it's audience on a personal journey across several decades of exploitation film history and pop culture. From the crafty world of early carnivals and sideshows... to the decaying drive-in's and movie palaces of the past, the audience will learn the truth regarding K. Gordon Murray... and from mouths of those who knew him. Whether you flocked to the theaters to see his presentations or tried desperately to avoid them, few will deny that he is one of film histories neglected pioneers and perhaps... the last "true" showman of the 20th century.
