-i breathe music; it is, without any fear of understatement, integral to my existence...i grew up in the activist political punk scene, then expanded to include industrial after seeing Skinny Puppy play live on their first tour [84? 85?] at Zinc...the rest, as they say, is history, but if you're curious feel free to message me....i've been DJing professionally since 1988, promoting & booking almost as long, and hold the longest running Industrial/Underground Electronic night in North America and i think even the world [!!] every Tuesday night at Zaphod's in Ottawa, from 9pm-2:30am.
-i am a film junkie; horror, b-movies, chinese action cinema, japanese cinema, sci-fi, independent/underground work and too many more to rattle off here.
-i adore books; reading...everything from hard & soft sci-fi to political/social theoretical explorations.
-i despise 'ego' and everything it brings with it; people who buy in to and help perpetuate social stratifications, exploitation and let's be honest, self-indulgent bullshit...i endeavour to always be open to challenges to my concepts of the world around me and how it all works...we can't expect to learn if we live our lives afraid to make mistakes, to deconstruct everything we are told, or that we tell ourselves.
-i feel strongly about social responsibility, deconstructing everything you hear and see, asking too many questions and never ever letting things slide for the sake of social comfort.
-i'd rather know than not know.
-i am fiercely political, yes an anarchist...an activist & academic anarchist with a few social theory & critical criminology degrees from Canada's only functionally billingual university [University of Ottawa]...meaning you must be fluent in both French and English to graduate.
-presently i'm training a new group of DJs & promoters to take over my club nights and live bookings here in Ottawa to prepare for my move first to Vancouver, then hopefully eventually to Amsterdam later once their work VISAS are cleared up...we will be moving with other artists/musicians/activists etc. to open a 24 hour arts/music/performance cafe/hostel.
