Counterfeit America

Formed in September of 2006. One month later opened for Common Enemy/Mad Conductor under the name "The Victimz", playing a short set of covers with no vocalist, though still to good responses from the other bands and the crowd. Changed the name after the show to Counterfeit America and began writing original material. Were one of the first bands ever to play at the first official Elyria Pudding Wrestling (EPW) event, opening for Cleveland's Keratoma and others. Have since played with other touring acts like the Psuedo Superheroes and others.HOW THE BAND CAME TO BE:Joey (guitar/vocals) and Nick (drums/vocals) had been friends for years when we met through my at the time girlfriend Jen at a hotel party. They had been trying for a while to start a band but never had a bassist, where as I was always looking for a drummer, so we setup a practice. Originally intending to be a metal band, we bonded faster over our love of punk and bands like Choking Victim and Rancid and quickly became more at ease playing punk covers, me turning them on to bands I loved and vice versa. We have had our ups and downs (even a brief hiatus/break up) but are back together with a more solid group mentality than before. With 2007 quickly drawing to a close, we are trying to gain what momentum we can for a big 2008. We have become close with bands in several states from either playing shows with them or helping them find a show, so a possible 2008 or 2009 summer tour is tentatively being planned.-Porno Dave, Counterfeit America
