About Rob Barry:
Many people including the Nashville singers, songwriters and producers who have heard of Rob's talent, sit up and take note of this young man's musical abilities. Rob is one of the best 5-String banjo players in the country. He has been performing professionally since age 9 and also plays Acoustic and Electric Guitar. At the early age of 11,he won the Tri State Appalachian Banjo Championship in Lexington Ky. He has won the Indiana State Banjo Championship 2 years in a row in 03-04. As a member of Iowa band The Ozone Ramblers (with Suzy Bogguss), he toured Mexico and the American Midwest from 1981-1983. In 84, he moved to Nashville to pursue his recording and songwriting dreams. He co-wrote the song,Don't Say No Tonight with Dan Mitchell,Loren Reyzek and recorded by Mason Dixon. The song reached the top 50 on the R and R and Billboard Country charts. It went to 33 on the Cashbox chart. Dan Mitchell was a major influence on Rob's songwriting and helped him get session work in his first years in Nashville. Dan co-wrote the Alabama hit,Fiddle in the band. In 1997 Rob won,Most promising Male Vocalist at the International Country Music Expo at The Opryland Hotel hosted by Grammy winning producer,Larry Butler. He has toured internationally and shared the stage with many varied National Acts including,38 Special,Molly Hatchet,Marshall Tucker,Blackfoot,Jerry Reed,Aaron Tippin,Kentucky Headhunters,Joan Jett,Fog Hat,Jeff Healy,Bertie Higgins,Blake Shelton and opened The 25th Boogie, formally known as The Bean Blossom Boogie which featured the legendary Rock Band Lynyrd Skynyrd. Even outside of Nashville, people are starting to take note, including Chris Con, host of the nationally syndicated "Con-Man Radio Show," has proven to be one of Rob's biggest fans. In fact, he's been quoted as saying, "This guy has the talent to compete against anyone in country music. I continue to receive requests for Rob's music. It is butt-kickin', floor-stomping country music! His overall package is going to make a big impact in the new millennium and it's been a pleasure presenting him to the nation." Rob's first CD, Southern Dream, was produced by the acclaimed Nashville Producer, Larry Butler. The recording of Rob's second album "The Whiskey Still Burns", was co produced by Larry Butler, is completed and will soon be available for sale. He has just finished recording a Rock Blues album with The Night Shift band. He is now working with his good friend, Bob Jones!
