Beowulf was a Philippine band formed in 1993 by AB Communication students of De La Salle University-Dasmariñas. Their brand of music ranged from metal to early grunge. They performed in several gigs during their brief lifetime in the Philippines, including performances in the San Miguel Beer Battle of the Bands in Batangas (1994), the DLSU Battle of the Bands in Dasmariñas (1995), and Club Dredd.
Beowulf informally disbanded in 1997, following the departure of several key members to pursue their own careers after graduation.
Ten years later, Beowulf vocalist Tolitz Rosel, now in the United States, decided to record some of the band's old songs and sought the help of good friends - ex-Razorback members David Aguirre (now in Lokomotiv ) and Miguel Ortigas. The inspiring result of this recording prompted Tolitz to come up with the decision to revive the band in the United States.
With the help of members from hard rock/funk band Lazykill , Beowulf is now on the road to revitalization, this time focusing on new wave and hard rock. Whether or not Beowulf can successfully rise from the ashes remains to be seen... but like the Germanic hero from which the band's name was coined, the unknown is Beowulf's playground...
