Jacqua Alford aka Realz Barz is a native of the nothern and eastern part of Pittsburgh. As a child Realz was raised on music, his mother use to be a local Dj and his siblings were always into listening to everything that came about. He use to try to sing and dance as a toddler listening to music that was hype and movable, but hip hop started to come to his intersest. He would listen to it everyday, holdin his mother's old mic in his palms in the mirror gesturing what he had seen on T.V, but he really never tried to do music of his own then. At age 9 he started to write short stories and poetry to calm himself down if he was in any type of stress, or pain. His grandmother (his inspiration) always told him that if he was gonna do something, do it to your best ability. He lived with her for some time and had a strong bond with her so everything he did he went to her for support. She moved with him and his mother in 2001 so he was around her and his mother but he didn't really have a strong bond with his mother because she was doing her own thing. 2002 was when young Realz took an aim at rapping when he heard the song "one mic" by Nas. He felt something in that song, he related to it, he believed that everything you have is one and his one dream was to be involved in music. Starting out in a duo named King of Spades with his cousin Realz started to learn the rap game and pushed to let his voice be heard. that year the group had split due to disareements. He stopped rapping for probably a year until his grandmother pushed him to keep going and not to give up. His cousin/ mentor Knise sat him down and showed him the art of music from a experieced MC's perspective. He took on well from Battling in front of the corner store to writng full songs about his view on life. 2005 his grandmother passed and it was then he got serious with music and used her words as inspiration to keep moving. Realz wasn't much of a people person after that but he has his share of people. He's now in a duo/ group with his close friend/ partner Traxx. Realz is ready to revive hip hop with his team cuz hip hop isn't dead it just played possum a while to see the peoples reaction. He doen't claim set any more but he'll never forget where he came from but music was on of his turn arounds, something to keep him out of the trouble he was in. Now is his time to shine now is his time to forfill his dream, now is the time to make his inspiration proud cuz he's went through too much to stop now. From bangin in a local gang, hustling drugs, hanging around the wrong crowd, and shooting guns, Realz is on the road to changing his life and hopefully others that ride with him, this is that second chance he asked God for and now it's put into effect, now it's on him to keep it going.
