Dre Money was born on Nov. 26,1985 in Los Angeles, CA. Dre Money was raised in the heart of South Central Los Angeles right by the border line between East and West surrounded by Inglewood, Compton, Watts, and Long Beach, everywhere he turned was a bacc door to gang violence and drugs, with out a father around to guide him, ultimately he ended up being trapped inside. "I remember walking to the store at the age of 9, these older guys would be like u want to be from the hood, and I liked that someone acted like they cared about little man down the street", Dre says. He adds, "My uncle was one of the most respected, feared man in the history of gang banging. He was a killer, a dealer, and a stealer that everybody knew and wanted to be down with since gang banging jumped all the way off, so all those guys knew me and use to give me a couple dollars." At the age of ten the most devastating event that would affect his life forever occured. Late September 1997 Dre's grandmother died of a blood disordered. "I was like damn, this sh** cannot be real. My granny was all I had, to guide me to the light." Without his grandmother around things in his life and family would change for the worst, Dre recalls "My whole life from that point until 2004 was all fu**** up, I barely had any lunch money, no jordans, no nice clothes, no outside life, I couldnt do nothing. I have very vague moments to tell you anything good at all, thats how fu**** up my life was, not to mention I had a little brother always getting me in more sh**." Frustrated without any hope and a need for things Dre began stealing anything that he thought had value to it. That includes shoplifting, robberies, and picc pocceting, soon he would stumble accross his next move. At the time his grandmother passed he wrote his first song entitled "Why" which at the time described his pain in loss of his grandmother. Dre recalls, "I mean I'd been freestyling since I was 9 going on ten but that was the first song I really wrote, I mean my vocab wasnt anything spectacular but at ten years old it was something you weren't ever going to find, I was ahead of my time." From that point, it would take Dre another 2 years write another song. "Around the time I was 12 going on 13 my bestfriend and I decided to be a group which led to me writing more songs. Like I loved the music but I couldnt tell you this would be my life, right now music is my savior(I see you Mims), the older I got the more it meant to me and the more I couldnt live without it." Surrounded by the streets it was only a moment of time before he became a full pledged gang member. Dre says, "It started getting really hard, with high school getting ready to start I had to get a nice wardrobe to impress the girls at school but the things I was doing to get money wasnt steady." He adds, "So one day I started hanging out with a couple friends who were Crips they turned me on to a whole other life I didnt experience in the Blood neighbor hood I was living in. They was calling me young cuz, asking what I needed, getting me pu***, giving me Jordans and sh**, I cant lie, I finally felt like I would get was missing in my life, guidence, and an unconditional love from a male figure." Two years of high school, when he was 15, he decided to be a Crip. "To be honest I didnt know what I was getting myself into, I just knew I had something for sale, a couple liccs, and a poccet full of cash. I was getting everything I wanted and needed, Jordans, Rocawear, gold earings, fresh clothes and could go where I damn well please" Around that time his style, flow, and thought had been elevated to its max, Dre says, "I remember it like it was yesterday, October 7th, 2001, which also happened to be the day my boy Spitty was born, I wrote this song called "In My Life Of Time" which I wrote to 2Pac's "Who Do You Believe In". The song covers my life from when I started rap to that very day, I then knew that this was my purpose in life, to speak through music." The rest in pretty much history. "Right now I'm working on Tha Money Market Mixtape Vol:2 & 3 so stay intuned for that." Dre still lives in Los Angeles and is working on his career and his goals are set so high that he feels the big day could be any day espicially with his talents.
