Scooter And The Cousins

About Me

Not unlike most humble musical beginnings, Greg Ashby and Bruce Chronister’s careers began in a garage in Northwest Indiana in 1982. Armed with a few cover songs and Greg’s unbelievable vocal talents, the boys formed the popular Region band Gemini in 1983. As they would tell you, “thus began a wonderful journey of playing music for the people”.
Greg started his own band and true love Scooter and the Cousins in the late nineties. With the band being based in Chicago, Bruce joined him just a few months later while continuing to live in Florida. Living in Tampa was a challenge, but you only go around once!
The full band line up includes Rich Ficek of Munster, IN ..s, sax, flute, and anything else he can get his hands on. Truly one of the best musicians on the planet!
New Band Member and Bass Player extraordinare Paul Bower of West Lafayette IN joined the group in early 2007 providing melodic bass lines that are a great fit for the 'Cousins'. And yes ladies and gentlemen, that's a right handed Rick bass played lefty upside down. How cool is that?
Holding it down behind the kit is drummer Tony Schilaci of Kankakee, IL. Tony is the backbone of Scooter and the Cousins, providing a skillful and soulful beat. His love and appreciation for music is contagious. Tony is truly the engine that makes the band go.
While the many years have brought different opportunities, Greg and Bruce have managed to stick together as a popular duo act (in addition to the full band) by gigging in the Chicagoland Area and in Florida. Being seasoned ‘scene’ veterans, the pair has amassed what they like to call a “Rock and Roll Acoustic Show for adults…and kids, too!”
If you have not caught the full band live, stay tuned for upcoming dates.Classic Rock, Folk and Reggae styling’s are key ingredients in their live act. Not to mention the incredible list of original tunes. ‘Three hours of original songs and three days of cover tunes’ has been used in promotions.
We are so very thankful that people out there are into our music. On behalf of Greg, Bruce, Rich, Tony and Paul, thanks for letting us share space in your lives.
