XMusa Duo (The Tenth Muse Duo) is a project born in 2006, from the encounter of cellist Federico Puppi and double-bass player Luca Bertinaria . Both musicians have a classical background, and they share the need of transcending the boarders trough a re-definition and a exchange of roles of their own instruments, presenting the cello and the double-bass in unconventional musical environments. The instruments are sometimes sculpted in their own acoustic nudity, sometimes raped by the use of electronic technology, where the singular direction of the classical music is twisted and works in favor of a versatile use of the electro-acoustic resources, full of experimentation, free-jazz and rock.

In 2008, during his stay in Barcelona, Federico met Diego Valenzuela (guitar), Gerard Serra (bass) and Cristian Vilalta (drums), and together they formed "Fuzz Quartet". The quartet conquered Barcelona's jazz scene, with invitations to play in some important jazz festivals in Cataluña. Federico (cello) and Cristian (drums), made a unusual concert at the jazz club "Jazz sÃ", exploring the possibilities of jazz from the combination of only drums and cello.
Together with other musicians of "L'aula School of Modern Music Barcelona", the quartet played in the most popular jazz clubs of Barcelona (Jamboree, Jazz SÃ, Zac Club), playing from standard jazz to world music.
