About Me

Perception and reality are surely two different things. Imagine a band that has included members of such seminal Pacific Northwest mainstays as The Posies, Flop, Pop Sickle, The Fastbacks, Muzzle, Faster Tiger, Coffin Break, Sister Psychic, Nevada Bachelors, The Model Rockets, and Tube Top, to name a few. What kind of songs might one expect from such and ensemble? Sweetened modern rock? Unbridled power pop? Perhaps in tasteful doses. Imagine what you will, but count on Ruston mire to deliver the unexpected. If you could conceive glam rock legends The Sweet and a touring band for new wave pioneer Gary Numan, all crowded around a hi-fi and scrutinizing a slightly warped copy of XTCs drums and Wires LP: youd be on the right track to pinning down Ruston Mires sound. If not, then think of Split Enz crossed with Mott the Hoople. Above all, think quirky but compelling songs, and a cast of musicians pushing themselves in unfamiliar directions. Ruston Mire crafts 70s synth-pop with a hard hitting rhythm section into pure pop gems. Brian Nauberts collection of songs are pulled from the dark side of his extensive pop intellect and interpreted into clever word plays and passionate, full-toned guitar work along side a smooth and haunting voice. The records "Steady Jobs and Flying Cars" released in 2000, and the 2003 follow up "Driving Straight Up In Siam" brought on a blitzkrieg of local radio play and adulation from the press, drawing fans into Ruston Mires high-energy live shows. The lineup has been a pleasing rotation of seasoned Seattle musicians, allowing the sound of even the familiar songs to constantly evolve. You can find our two records at various places.
