The AIDS Walk & Ride is an annual event that supports programs and services serving the more than 10,000 Hoosiers with HIV/AIDS. The pandemic is far from over – infection rates are increasing among women, youth and minorities. Indiana remains above the national average of young people under 25 who are living with AIDS.Individual participants and teams solicit pledges from family, friends, co-workers, employers and others to benefit the Greg Powers/Direct Emergency Financial Assistance Fund (DEFA). DEFA provides funds for those with HIV/AIDS who need assistance with emergency shelter, utilities, food, medicine, and other daily living needs.PLEASE MAKE CHECKS PAYABLE TO: Indiana AIDS FundInfo on 2010 Spotlight will be posted in early 2010.The Indiana AIDS Fund began in 1994 and has become the largest private funder of HIV and AIDS programs in the state of Indiana. It is a fund-raising and grant-making organization dedicated to supporting programs and services that help educate and assist Hoosiers with HIV/AIDS. To date it has provided more than $4 million in grants to more than 60 organizations across Indiana.
