Champagne Brothers 1999

About Me

The Champagne Brothers started life in 1998 as the brain child of Bob Rafferty and Ken Cowan(Aka Fridge and Tigo Champagne.) Performing accapella, with random percussion or bad guitar playing at the QM unplugged night and the Nice'n'Sleazy's acoustic jam the boys unleashed a torrent of offensive often improvised material. With the help of friend Paul Crowe(Aka Dr Boozack) they went on to play gigs at the Arena, the Vale, the QM and on stage in Argyle Street for BBC Music Live.

Later that year they began work with film maker Terry McGuire(Aka Helmet Champagne) who gave the band an added avenue of visual repugnancy.

After just over a year of performing and recording together the Champagne fell apart to due artistic differences(not that art is a word you would use.) The band split in 2001 leaving the members to go on to do much, much better things.

Throughout the two years the band were together they were assisted by the following people; St Nick Champagne, Ginger Champagne, Grandpa Champagne, Magoo and Jimmy Tarpit(Aka James Bullin).

After a hiatus of almost 10 years the Brothers have reunited with a brand new band and will be working on their debut album very soon
