The Buck 'n' Wing Band - Georgia Bound from Gary Thompson on Vimeo .From the coal enriched foothills of the Appalachian Mountains to the white sands of the Florida coast, The Buck 'n Wing Band have, for 3 decades, been carving out a name for themselves in the entertainment world. Having already developed a strong following in areas from Cleveland, Ohio to central Florida and parts in between, The Buck 'n Wing Band continues to gain support wherever they perform. Operating out of Bellaire, Ohio, they are currently playing shows across the Ohio Valley.
The Buck 'n Wing band, consisting of frontman/guitarist Paul Gillespie, bassist Ray Mlynek, and drummer Mark Gray, have known one another musically since high school and have developed a bond to hold their new precise sound. "We are trying to capture the original Buck 'N Wing sound, but yet add a new exciting flavor to the mix," says Paul.
The band has solidified and broadened their sound even further with the discovery of Danny Wells, an accomplished musician and guitarist from the Ohio Valley. Rounding out the lineup of this group of talented musicians is Bobby Bandonee on keyboard and vocals, and Phil Wakulchik on guitar.
The Buck 'n Wing Band have shared the stage with some of the country's top performers, such as Hank Williams, Jr., Charlie Daniels, George Jones, Brenda Lee, among others. They had the opportunity to headline Jamboree USA and also performed at the annual Ohio Valley festival known as Jamboree in the Hills. The band acquired national prominence when they were endorsed by the Kramer Guitar Company of Neptune, New Jersey, which earned them a write up in Guitar Player Magazine.
Recording for the first album was done at Capricorn Studios in Macon, Georgia. Because of the influence of bands such as The Allman Brothers Band, The Marshall Tucker Band, and The Charlie Daniels Band, they were dubbed "The Charlie Tucker Brothers" by the Capricorn Studios' Staff.
Over a period of 17 years, the band raised thousands of dollars for the Muscular Distrophy Association by holding an annual music festival known as the Buck 'N Wing Pick-Nic, which brought fine entertainment to the Ohio Valley during the 70s, 80s, and 90s.
The Buck 'N Wing Band has no doubts that its future will be anything but bright. The most important task ahead for them is to reach as many people as possible. With original songs such as "Georgia Bound," " Times Are Changin'," "Heaven (What I Call My Mountain Home)," and "In a Month or So," everyone who hears them will have no doubt that they have heard a very special band.
