The Mannequin Coincidence

About Me

The Mannequin Coincidence (TMaC) was founded in the autumn of 2004 by lead singer Kian and his girlfriend Manny, in the city of Prague. Manny was writing the lyrics, while Kian came up with a bunch of chords. Back in the UK, Manny was killed in an accident driving home from a rerun af David Lynch's "Eraserhead. Over the next year Valérie, Jean Luc, Marc, Derek and Chris collected the bits of Kian's broken soul. In the process of putting him back together, an enormous creative power was released. In between the many dark hours in the rehearsal basement, the experiences of Kian was given shape and released as “The mannequin Coincidence” as a tribute to the late Manny.
The music is all about the feelings of Kian going through the fases of agony, hatred, denial and pain – one of the results is the song “ I saw you on YouTube” which was written the day Kian decided it was time to move on.
Kian first met Jean Luc outside the house of Kafka (the one he lived in age 6-13) once again traveling in Prague after the death of Manny. At first glance, they both knew that they shared the vision of making the kind of music which is only a reflection of the lyrics. Jean Luc knew Valérie from back in the days in Bruxelles, where they both where attending a boarding school far away from their parents. Now living in south-east London, Jean Luc and Valérie felt right to join The Mannequin Coincidence. Kian knew Marc, Chris and Derek from back in the days at the soccer court, and knowing there talents he asked them to join the band as well.
The band is all about confronting the feeling of living in a world of confusion, carelessness, spleen, not knowing where to go and despair in general.
