Smyr

Smyr has existed since 1997. We are four girls from Ålesund, now living in Trondheim and Oslo. Our music is created somewhere between gregorian chant, jazz, folk music and modern church music.Our first album, "St. Sunniva", was released on the norwegian label AIM Sound City in april 2003. This project is based on the legend of Sunniva, the Norwegian saint. Nearly all of the music and lyrics on this album has been written by us. The album can be bought in all Norwegian music stores and on the internet, through the website of AIM Sound City; www.aimmusic.no.Our number two album, "Vandring", will be recorded in Borgund church in july 2009. Steinar Løberg Værnes will participate with his trumpet and with some electronic elements. The lyrics on this album are also mainly written by us, exept a few lyrics by Olav H. Hauge. Reading our assembly of lyrics, a common theme has emerged from the texts. The personal and existencial wandering between doubt and belief, hope and hopelessness, between the searching and the finding, between going out and coming home, has lead us to the title "Vandring" - Wandering.
