I guess technically I did meet him once. A fateful night that I wished I hadnt met him. The night was awesome with some great rare covers and the sultry female backup singers with screeching horns and a roadhouse piano.
But it wasnt a good night, you could feel it in the air. I met him as he walked back to his bus following his encore. My girlfriend and I shook hands with him and he promised to make an appearance later and make good with some conversation. But he seemed very busy with a required meet and greet. So we left him to tend to his fans.
But it was Austin and the date was December 12, 1998.
Maybe next time.. or the next after that. All I know is I dont need to meet the man who introduced me to the night. I already know him.
Here's to you Greg!

Two years ago I was searching for something new to listen to. This happens daily. Sometimes I find something. Sometimes I am disgusted over how much crap is out there. But that day the demigod of search engines, Google, kicked back a site to me.
Amazon graciously supplied me with clips to sample. First beat, first lyric. Hooked. I got both albums and listened to nothing else for about a month. My CD player had quit working in the car. So I dubbed a tape of the album. First time I have done this since 1994 I think. I had to have more of it!
So Mr. Sage Francis. Keep up the music that is honest. One of the days and one of your concerts. I will extend my hand and say hello to the person who made yet another entry into the soundtrack of my life
