From the ashes of Patches Seguin and Beso Negro comes Kick It!. A female fronted dance-punk band who are taking the San Antonio indie music scene by storm. Kick It!'s current members include: The Saint (born Echo Diaz) on guitar and lead vocals, Pegasus (born Jeremy Rhodes) on synths, vocals, and tambourine, and The Heat (born Ernesto Olivo) on drums and vocals. Their stage names are taken from names of local gay bars in San Antonio. Their music can be described as explosive keyboard driven rock music laced with raucous guitars accented with disco-punk style drums. The lyrics to their songs can be described as witty, overtly sexual, and political. The songs on their first EP deal with a number of subjects and issues from international travels, to gays in the military, and America portrayed as a stalker.Since their formation in 2007, Kick It! have adopted a do it yourself attitude. Front woman Echo Diaz produced and recorded their first EP and the band collectively designs and makes their own merchandise. The band's name comes from several sources. A Beastie Boys lyric, A Beck lyric, and a Peaches song by the same name. "Kick it" is a phrase that is used so much in rock and hip-hop music plus, we felt it described our music very well. We also liked the fact that the phrase kick it has a double meaning. On the one hand, it means to play a song with a high degree of skill but its also slang for when you want to come over and have sex with someone.", says Echo. If you have seen Kick It! live, then you know that their name does tie in with their live performances. Their recordings pale in comparison to their infectious and high energy shows."Nation to Nation" Video
