Crossing Border is the festival where literature, music, film and the visual arts combine to take central stage. 19 to 21 November 2009, writers, poets, musicians, filmmakers and artists will reign over The Hague's cultural centre. The festival take's place at the Koninklijke Schouwburg (the Royal Theatre). On the 22nd of November a selection of artist will perform in Antwerp.For 17 years now, the crème de la crème of the international literature world has come together at the Crossing Border festival. And also music a main ingredient of the festival. Jill Scott’s first major Dutch appearance, Coldplay’s breakthrough performance inspiring their singer Chris Martin to write ‘Amsterdam’ in his dressing room afterwards. Mercury Rev, Calexico, Goran Bregovic and his orchestra, Placebo taking the stage of the former Asta cinema – they have all left their own indelible impression, driving audiences to delirium. Veterans like ‘Little’ Jimmy Scott, Odetta and Juliette Greco have also deeply touched the Crossing Border audience. Overall there’s been music of every sort for every taste, but with one common denominator: optimum quality.
