About Me

What shall I say about myself? I'm the sixth of seven children. I'm a working-class white boy from Hazel Green, Alabama who managed to get an education. I'm a United Methodist. I'm a thinker. I'm in touch with my feelings and my body. I care a lot about right and wrong, even though my conclusions may be unconventional. I empathize with anyone who finds himself on the outside looking in. I love history and languages and travel. I come from a particular place, but I am a citizen of the world.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

I think most everyone has something to offer. Maybe he's hot or wholesome. Maybe he's funny or smart. Maybe he's musical or athletic. Maybe he's more than one of these things. Maybe he's only a little bit of all of them. Either way, I don't approach people with checklist in hand, seeing how they measure up to some preconceived criteria. I think of people as mysteries to be explored, and I try to remain open to the mystery.

Twee Vaders

That’s Dutch for "Two Fathers." Can you imagine how apeshit the queer-haters would go in this country over a kid being so outspoken about his gay fathers?

I spanked a child today

So I spanked my nine-year-old nephew Noah today.  I don't feel good about it, but I really feel that his behavior warranted it. Anyone who has ever met the boy knows what a delightful a...

Creation ex nihilo

From nothing were we created, along with the beasts, birds, and bugs; the fish and fowl; the planets and stars; and all that exists within the universe.  God moved across the void and called us i...
