So I begged to have piano lessons when I was 4, just because my sister learnt and it looked fun.Soon after, the fun stopped and I begged to give up but was forced kicking and screaming to continue practising. The appreciation came once I joined my first band-with boys from the brother school next door.Once I reached the age where people start talking about what they're gonna be when they grow up, through the process of elimination I went with music. Studying at University High, then the VCA where I practised improvising, composing, jazz harmony, and how to 'just be.. like a tree in a forest'.. among other things.I played in several different bands from there, including 'Have A Nice Day' which was an education into being signed to a Mr G's label; spent 3 months playing in a piano bar in Japan; and miming for S2S, and Jane Jenson on Hey, Hey, It's Saturday.Inspired by working with original bands, I began songwriting, and found the guitar to be a more versatile songwriting tool than piano, and after several attempts at collaborating with singers, wound up playing the singer/songwriter-with-an-acoustic-guitar circuit, including gigs in Argentina.
This developed into a 3 piece indie-rock band 'Band Camp', which enjoyed the bitter-sweet win of JJJ's Unearthed in 2003 with 'Sugar High.' www.bandcamp.com.au
The band dissolved soon after, and after a short hiatus from music, I accepted an invitation to appear on a recording with the electronic genius of 'Thylacine', and returned to playing keys.Currently playing with Combo La Revelacion www.combolarevelacion.com
