About Me

The Gadflies are no more...
As easy as that. Done. What can I say? I'm sitting here enjoying a cold Smuttynose Robust Porter and just thinking about how much fun this band was. Granted, tempers flared... mostly mine. But, mostly because I'm an idiot. But all in all it was a great band.
I don't expect anyone else but my former and current bandmates to read this... If you make it through, more power to you.
Maybe this band was never meant to happen. I mean, hell... we almost died the first day we formed. We were constantly plagued by technical difficulties, again... mostly me. We got shitty sets sometimes where we got pushed back and delayed three hours. But I don't think that was really the case... This band had to happen. So many cool things came out of it... I need another beer.
Steve: Many restless Nirvana nights at Fredonia. Coffee runs at rediculous hours of the morning. Good Music. White Stripes jams. "Fuck you guys". Crammed in the back of the Jetta. Puke/Shit naked (not really a band thing but that was great too.) Semi-hollow double team. Btw... I gotta borrow your wah, I like it better than mine. You truly are a great guitarist/songwriter and the day you finally come out of your shell, the world better watch out. You have far surpassed me and I will always be jealous. The best thing I ever did was give you Dylan's catalog.
Scotty: Haha man. Thank you. You've seen me in pretty rough shape. You probablly saved me from killing myself in Fredonia, or atleast tried. Whatever you did, it worked. I won't lie... when you screamed... I wanted to kill you. You've got a great voice dude, when you sing... it sounds like angels fucking. Oops. But hey man. That's just your thing. Who the fuck is anyone to tell you how to use your voice? I'm just a dick. You were a great frontman, as you will be once again someday in the not so distant future. Rum and cokes around campus, you getting blitzed so easy, thinkin' I was "face white" dead, getting busted serving minors... "I wasn't even drinking!" You were so pissed! Living in that shithole apartment. The time you walked in to my bare ass legs flailing in the air. You wearing a dress, hammered onstage. Too much to list. Come to think of it... most of those memories are just hanging out memories. Which is good, cause I know it means they won't end. Atleast they better not, I know where you live. I'm coming to the Fred Saturday night... better watch out!!!
To the brothers mcWilger... We've been in a handful of bands together, and it's always been great. IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN!
Nate: I made you drum! Sorry I never asked... just kind of told ya! Best move I ever made. Your exellent man. Just please don't leave me and Joel. Your far too good to be tied down playing in a band with us drunken chaps. Your skill is nuts and you improove every day. I will forever stand by the tale that you tried to gut me like a fish. Also admitting that you had very detailed thoughts of a murder/suicide when I was killing that bird. Don't cut your beard KIMBO! The 18th of October will forever stick in my mind not only as the day that we played our last gig, but also as the day you talked to Shannon again. THANK YOU! It meant the world to me. That whole night made me want to weep like a baby. I feel so privelaged that I get to share a stage with you and write tunes in the Big Blue Room. Please don't kick me out.Joel: My good old buddy... I waited nearly five years for you to quit that stupid band we were in so that I could have the slightest remote chance of forming band with you. Thank god I did. Drinkin' pal numero uno! We have done so much stupid shit together and almost gotten caught, it's crazy. That chair has your name on it. I finally got you to surrender your keys. My right hand man onstage... literally. Thank you for holding me up on many many gigs. Thanks for dealing with headbutts and bites from my stupid drunken ass. Me using your amp as a beer stand and usually spilling it on your amp. 5 to 5 on the Jetta seats. That's never gonna stop. Drunken food runs. The Jake and Joel show. We gotta do that again soon... What can I say dude? Thank god I've got you and nate to back me up onstage and when we're jammin. I don't care what we do as long as I'm always playin' with the two of you. Your voice sounds great dude... keep it up. You write great lyrics.
As for me: All I have to say is thanks. Thanks to everybody. This makes me sad, but it's gotta happen. This band was a riot and I was the biggest pain in the ass of the group. Thank you all for putting up with my bullshit.
On behalf of all of us, THANK YOU! I know it sounds stupid, but I feel like we've accomplished everything in the world. And we couldn't have done it without you guys. Gary, thanks for the drinks always. Your my number one beer man. Thanks for MGMT. that song is always for you. Neil, same to you buddy. You were always balls out. Remember when you dropped trou at diablo? You guys were the craziest bastards at our gigs hands down. Derrick, well shit.... you were pretty crazy too. BERTA, thank you for following us since the fat apple days, we've got a new thing for you to check out. We're all so thankful that you have been there and promoted us and I for one hope to see you at every gig this new band plays. You are truly awesome. We love you. Thanks to the away team for always going nuts. Thanks to certain bands that will remain unnamed, for inspiring us to keep it original. Mohawk sluts. Hahaha fuck it, next. Thanks Shannon, for always being there even when I was smashed, playing like shit, asleep onstage and fucking everything up. You were great enough to tell me I did great and actually believed you. Chereese, thank you for always putting up with me and Joel taking Nate away, getting him smashed, and making him jam all night. The Perkins crew... thanks while it was alive. That was a great time when you all made it out there to the tudor. Jaclyn... you better come to a BBR show. I know, Diablo or Tudor isn't your scene but... really... come to one. Thanks to all the places that let us play. Tudor, Diablo, B-Joes, that place that was too fancy for us, and everywhere else. Harm, thanks for getting us a gig or two, letting me use your amp, and making me feel like an asshole. Your a great guitarist dude, tell your dad I say hi! I know I'm forgetting people, and I'm sorry. I need another beer.
That's all I can manage right now. The Gadflies are done for now. but, I know we will Jam again. As far as gigs who knows. But your the greatest group of guys I could ever jam with.
That's it for now, much love, music is life...
