ROBERT SAFIR

About Me

FILM/TV MUSIC COMPOSER
ROBERT SAFIR (aka Bob Safir) began his career in the pro music biz at the tender age of 17, placing songs with Top 40 artists The Standells and getting his own record deals, first with GNP Crescendo, and later, ABC Records.
Bob went on to found Track Record Studios in Los Angeles. He engineered or produced for The Association, Canned Heat, Brian Wilson, Lauren Wood, and others. It was always “the others” that he found most interesting, for there are a lot more undiscovered artists than those that surface to the top.
As an author, Bob has been staff writer for Keyboard Magazine, as well as writing for other industry pubs such as Songwriter, Mix Magazine, Cue, and The Hollywood Reporter. As a panelist, he has presented at AES (Audio Engineering Society), The Computer Game Developer’s Conference, Mix 99, and California Lawyers for the Arts.
Bob wrote the original score to a unique children’s video, “Elroy’s Toy,” on the Miramar label, directed by Jan Nickman (creator of “The Mind’s Eye”). A partial list of corporate clients has included Microsoft, Miller’s Outpost, Splash Studios, Rymell Multimedia, Gamco, and Aureal, Inc.
Today, his instrumental compositions range from acoustic guitar-based tracks to complete orchestral arrangements. Bob’s most recent projects have included underscore for television programs such as those on Discovery Channel, Biography, BET, and many others, as well as supplying unique, original tracks for select music libraries.
