film director, scriptwriter, photograhper Franziska Stuenkel studied film directing and scriptwriting in the class of Prof. Uwe Schrader, graduated in 2003, designated as master scholar in 2004 (Master of Art). She received various schoolarships, a.o. vgf - Filmproduction Scholarship for Young Talent at the Bavarian Filmcentre Munich and scholarship winner Talents 2003 under Mogens Rukov (scriptwriter of Das Fest, OT: Festen / DK). Beside this she was chosen to join the Berlinale Talent Campus 2003. The short films of Franziska Stuenkel run at international film festivals in over 19 countries and were awarded a.o. with the Best New Director - Award (WBFF Film Festival New York). At the Next Generation 2001 her short film Wuensch Dir was was introduced at the International Film Festival Cannes. In 2005/2006 she directed her 90 min cinema debut Vineta which saw its first screening on the renowned Munic Film Festival. For her achievement as a director Franziska Stuenkel has received the directors Otto-Sprenger Award 2006. The screenplay, also by Franziska Stuenkel has been nominated for the Foerderpreis-Deutscher-Film-Award and the Prix-Geneve-Europe for best European screenplay. Vineta has been selected for several renowned international festivals, such as the Int. Film Festival Shanghai 2007, the WBFF New York 2007 and the International Film Festival Cambridge 2007. At the World Festival in Houston Vineta also received the Remi-Silver-Award. VINETA WILL BE RUNNING IN CINEMAS ACROSS GERMANY FROM SPRING 2008 (premiere:03.04.2008).
