--------------------------------------------------
Hello
My name is Ian Levine
Please also go to my three different music business pages,
The Main Ian Levine Page
and
Record Shack Records
and
Tropicana Productions
where you will hear songs, see videos, and find out about my career.
This is the Motorcity Records page, of my four MySpace pages.
Why do you need four pages, I can hear you saying....
Well, with the vast amount of pics and videos I have been putting up, covering my thirty two year career of producing records, it seems to make more sense to spread them over four different sites.
I already discovered over on the Record Shack page, where I was putting up pics of all the classic album covers, that I could only put up 120 pics, and then it stopped.
Well with all the classic vintage album and twelve inch sleeves I wanted to post up, I ended up needing four pages.
I've discovered fans I never knew I had, old artists and co-producers I'd lost contact with, and most importantly, after digging out and editing some wonderful footage, I'm giving some of the artists I've worked with in the past, a chance to see their own performances that they've never had a chance to see before.
Plus artists like The Four Vandals and Ebony Alleyne are now reaching the audience they deserve to, with literally thousands of views of their videos in just a couple of weeks.
I'm really really enjoying my MySpace experience with all four of these pages, and I hope you do too. If you like Soul or Disco or Motown, I promise you a rare treat that you won't find anywhere else on the web.
All you have to do is keep visiting all four pages, Ian Levine, Record Shack, Tropicana, and Motorcity, and keep clicking on the "View My Videos" icon, below the main pic on each page.
You never know what you might get to see there.
But before you go over there to look at my both my main personal page, and also the pages for my record productions, which are called Record Shack Records, and Tropicana Productions, look here first. My entire music production and songwriting career is covered here on this Motorcity Records page, which is specifically about my productions, my songs, my remixes, my work for major labels, and my own record labels - Motorcity, Record Shack, Nighmare Records, Centre City, etc etc. There are some fantastic and rare pics and record covers on here, which you can instantly see if you click on the highlighted "View My Pics" words, just below the main picture on the profile page. Many people have missed seeing them, and they cover Record Shack, Motorcity, Northern Soul, High Energy, and Disco.
Plus I've loaded in loads of videos of my productions, including many songs which are particularly dear to my heart. Once again if you click on the highlighted "View My Videos" words, just below the main picture of me, you'll get the choice to play these songs

But don't forget that there are also lots and lots more pics and videos on the other three pages, the Ian Levine Page
http://myspace.com/ian_levine
and the Record Shack page
http://myspace.com/recordshackrecords
and the Tropicana Productions page
http://myspace.com/tropicanaproductions
So, now that I've made sure everyone gets to look at my artist and record cover pics, and see my rare videos, and now that's all clear, lets get down to business, shall we.
We own and can supply accapella vocals on nearly two thousand recordings by legendary artists such as Edwin Starr, Loleatta Holloway, David Ruffin, The Trammps, Evelyn Thomas, Barbara Pennington, The Exciters, Brenda Holloway, Jimmy Ruffin, Eddie Holman, etc etc etc.
These are all available for licensing for remixes and sampling.
I have now been producing records and writing songs for thirty two years.
My first production was "Reaching For The Best" by The Exciters in 1975.
In 1983 I became head of A&R for Record Shack Records, selling twelve million records in one year.
At the end of 1985, I left Record Shack to form my own labels, Nightmare, Saturday, Reflection, Blue Moon, Nightmare Gold, and of course later, Motorcity Records.
In 1987, Record Shack went bust, and I bought the entire catalogue.
In 1987 Motorcity began. A reunion of 60 Motown stars in Detroit attracted massive media attention and over forty US TV appearances on News shows and Chat shows. I was on the front page of every Detroit newspaper and on US national TV, on all four networks.
Motorcity Records was launched as a record label, initially distributed by PRT and later Pacific, then Charly and finally Total/BMG.
Between 1987 and 1992, we recorded a staggering total of over eight hundred songs, on one hundred and eight artists who had all formerly been signed to Motown and been a major part of my beloved Motown Sound.
Many of these songs were captured on video and can be seen here on MySpace between my four different pages, and many of the artists can be contacted through this page, if you look at my Top Friends.
After enjoying major pop hits with Take That and The Pasadenas and Blue, I'm back again, in 2007, with my own new label, Centre City Records.
What goes around comes around.
Hope you enjoy the songs and videos here on all four of my MySpace pages, Ian Levine, Record Shack, Tropicana Productions, and this one you're looking at, the Motorcity Records page.
Lots of best wishes
Ian Levine.
