The Gye Nyame Empowerment Project, Inc. is a non-profit - tax-exempt organization. The Gye Nyame Empowerment Project (pronounced- Jean-Yuh-Me), recognizes, celebrates, and examines issues pertaining to people of Pan-African descent, with an emphasis on those residing in underserved communities. We are dedicated to the education and advancement of people of Pan-African descent, and the neighborhoods they reside in through conferences, workshops and other social and educational mediums. Our vision is to provide a supportive network to empower the individual, the family and the community.
Our first project is the Sista-2-Sista Youth Summit: Get Lifted! which will be held in NYC in March 2008.
The Summit aims to empower 125 high school girls of Pan-African descent throughout NYC to reach their full potential through a three step process: self awareness, self-appreciation, and self-actualization.
In January of 2008 we launched the Get Lifted Mentorship program that will guide 4 ninth graders through the completion of their senior year in high school. For more info go to: www.EmpowerMeGNEP.org/events
