It is the goal of our organization to raise and maintain awareness to the American people of the day to day sacrifices that our military men and women and their families make to protect our freedoms. Furthermore it is our goal to make as comfortable as possible as many of our military men and women currently fighting over seas. One object among many, is to bring a sense of home to our soldiers by the way of letter, packages, gifts, phone cards, etc. We convey our love and show our pride in these men and women, lest they and we never forget the sacrifices they are making in doing their jobs.
We here at Operation Adopt a Solder pledge to provide the support that which every service member and their families need and deserve in answering the call of duty to our country. Our message is clear: "YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN".
Who is Operation Adopt a Soldier and Project Yellow Ribbon?
"Operation Adopt a Soldier, Inc." (OAAS) is an all volunteer, not for profit organization, comprised of as many men and women who all are committed to the goals as stated in our missions statement. OAAS, Inc. originated at Mt McGregor Correctional Facility in Wilton, NY. In the first months of the war in Iraq, the employees spearheaded by Cliff Seguin began sending care packages to one platoon of soldiers from the 368th Combat Engineers of which Cliff's son Steven was a member. Later that same year while Cliff was attending a Support Our Troops Rally and fund raiser organized by Dominick Commisso who himself was sending care packages to his two sons Jason and Michael's platoons also serving in army units in Iraq, a partnership formed. In early 2005, founder of Project Yellow Ribbon and mother of soldier (Edward) serving in Iraq, had joined forces with OAAS, Inc. Today Terri Perry is Co-Chair for OAAS. Together they have been tireless volunteers and contributors of OAAS, Inc. almost from it's beginning and we are proud to have them aboard Operation Adopt a Soldier.
