About Me

NEXT EXIT DECATUR STREET

Do you to like Rock??? Then you came to the right place!
Established 2006 and named after the street they first started rehearsing on in Madison NC. Decatur Street is an original band that plays covers. Or is it a cover band that plays originals? Only Crockett Saunders can tell you for sure. With influences ranging from The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix to more modern music like, The White Stripes, The Black Keys and Kings of Leon. The band has a vast repertoire of over 90 covers and 30 original compositions.
Decatur Street released their first CD Automatic Start in 2007 and quickly sold out on word of mouth alone just playing around the triad area. The band cut its teeth as a three piece, (Crockett Saunders / drums, J.B. Lawson / guitar & vocals and Jason Joyce / bass & vocals) hammering tunes out at a club in High Point NC known as The Red Lion for several months before really coming into it’s own. They started getting gigs at the Oak Barrel in Mayodan NC and added a fourth member (Elliott Cardwell / guitar & vocals) in late 2007, the definitive version of Decatur Street was finally born.
Steady gigs in the local area and writing for the past year, the band is almost ready to start recording their second CD to be released in early 2010. Decatur Street is the house band for Buckets Bar and Grill in Mayodan NC and plays there at least once a month. With a rally cry that’s easy to remember, support your local music and your local bar, Decatur Street is all about a good time. Good grooving, rocking music and great spirits.
