About Me
THE OSUKUZA ALBUM OUT NOW ON..........
..
Konstantinous Kouzas was born in Athens (Greece) in 1966. Since 1983 he was an active member of the Athens underground scene. He composed and played keyboards for many music bands. In 1989, he composed music for an exhibition on architecture held at the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris (France). During the 1990’s, he produced/organized/managed bands that then signed on with major record labels. His avant-garde band “Parassagas†was successful in providing music for many theatre performances and dance shows in Athens. In 2005, he moved to Brussels where he met Piotr Osuszkiewicz. Together, they worked on Osuszkiewicz’s art videos. Kouzas was interviewed by Resonance FM, a musicians' radio station in London. In September 2007, he will be leaving for Houston (U.S.A).
Piotr Osuszkiewicz was born in Poznan (Poland) in 1965. From 1982 to 1992, he studied at the Secondary Art School and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznan. In 1993, he moved to Brussels where he continued his studies at the Saint-Lukas Institute. Osuszkiewicz carried out research work at the Fondation de la Tapisserie in Tournai (Belgium) and lately has been doing research, on his own, into art in general. He works with different media and with different collaborators: starting with drawings, writing, photography, video, performance to interactive sound installations and musical compositions. He has had many artistic experiences which resulted in various exhibitions, shows, and performances. You can see some of his work at

Somebody once sang ‘... I am an unthinking machine...
Times have changed a bit since then. Today, we are thinking instead of, and, for the machines who in turn do all the dirty work for us. However one cannot trust the binary numeral system completely; it is prone to mistakes as are its inventors.
Listening to the CD for the first time I had the impression that it is a loose collection of partially unfinished pieces. Listening to it again however I do see the consistence and purpose in the sounds generated by the OSKUZA duo.
It is usually hard for musical sounds alone to defend themselves without the plastic dimension (video) with which they are normally presented, but these sounds do. New playing machines and sound transforming systems open up a great musical opportunity but also carry a risk of creating musical clichés.
Thousands of CDs created with the help of computer processing do not stand the competition with the originators of the genre who expressed and played great quality sounds many years ago. Today’s electronic music is based predominantly on the mélange of various musical categories, and their smart mixing which creates a unique musical climate causing the listener to want to return to the CD again and again.
The OSUKUZA CD starts in an interesting way as besides some simple, trivial sounds there is an intriguing and interesting vocal dimension. Motor drums samples are OK but I am still missing something in them – maybe some more investment in the studio material?
No 2 sounds much more interesting; there is an underwater guitar accompanied by the sounds of oceanic creatures and a hot dance party on a distant beach muted by the waves. The rest of the CD completes the main theme which unfolds lazily sweeping over the beach with new house beats so that the party can start all over again. A lot of sounds and a lot of energy is transformed into a somewhat south-asian beat Bill Laswell would not be ashamed of. This azymut is for sure the most appealing in the OSKUZA sound travel. As usual these are only subjective impressions of just one listener (somewhat spoilt and degenerated on top of that!). However I do think that everyone will find something interesting – something to like in these sounds.
