MARIA'S CHAKRA

Singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Maria Fakitopoulos started writing at the tender age of 13. Her first instrument was the guitar having endured through brief affairs with the piano, violin, drum kit and more serious flirtations with the bass guitar and on going passion for song writing.Maria produced her first album title “SUNRISE” in 1999 on her own at her home studio which compromises 9 tracks on which she plays all instruments. In 2001 Maria finished recording her second album titled “ABANDONED SOUL”. In 2003 Maria co- produced her music with Jeff Burstin producing her third album “MEADOW OF SUNFLOWERS”, distributed by SOUNDVAULT. In 2005 Maria’s Chakra released there fourth album YEARNING co produced by Jeff Burstin and Bruce Haymes which is also distributed through SOUNDVAULT.With her tremendous voice, Maria passsionately belts out refreshing sounds, blending the styles of rock, acoustic, folk and jazz. Maria’s song writing styles have won and come finalists in domestic and international song writing contests.Maria’s song titled “SUNRISE” was her first song to become a finalist in the ASA contest in 1999. It then followed on to the UNISONG international contest coming in the top 10 percent out of 5000 entries. In 2000 Maria’s songs RELEASE ME and REALLY LOVE YOU made it in the Top 10 of the Coffee House category of the ASA competition. Her song SEEK followed through to the international contest making it into the Top 10 percent, out of 4000 entries over 47 countries. In 2001 Her song Abandoned Soul made it in the top 10 percent of the UNISONG contest. In 2003 Maria’s Song BEYOND ADVICE won first place in the Australian songwriters association competition.Holding a strong background of live performances, Maria has built a solid following on the live scene in Melbourne. She performs with her backing band known as MARIA’S CHAKRA. She has an urge to expand her musical horizons and continues to write songs which is her passion.Maria’s Chakra have played many victorian festivals in the past four years,including:- Apollo Bay, Mordialloc food and wine festival, Mortlake Festival, Budburst Mt.Macedon wine festival, Dandenong Ranges festival, Nymagee outback festival, Maldon Festival
