I've been playing in bands for years, from my first band called The Screen in Scarborough in 1966, up to the present day lunacy of The Chillum Brothers - an incarnation of Charas, our gigging band of the 80s and early 90s.

In the last few years I've been getting into internet collaborations and some of that stuff is immensely satisfying to create. And there is a bonus...nurturing the music becomes nurturing real friendships, some of which have spread into the real world and I count myself blessed from contact with new musical friends. You can check out the results of one such collaboration by searching out Freakwood here at MySpace.

But the music on this particular page is intended to be a musical reflection of a journey from West to East, reflecting Shankarji and fellow traveller Kulu Dave's travels in India, made in the nineteen-eighties. The journey starts with music defined by some as being at the height of Western artistic achievement, moves seamlessly towards the sacred music of mystical India and concludes with some hippies on a beach in Tamil Nadu! The music and lyrical content represent a very personal vision of a journey into the Dance.
