I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I'm a Master Vocal Coach with a PhD in contemporary vocals. I'm also a performer & arranger, choirmaster (mistress?) for Voices Unlimited Contemporary Choir, and a trained hypnotherapist, aromatherapist and psychotherapist.I'm the Principal of VIDLA - Vocalist International Distance Learning Academy, London - an online college specialising in courses for contemporary commercial singers and singing teachers. We're busy training people from all over the world!I also have a very busy private teaching practice in my adopted hometown, Worcester, as well as being a freelance lecturer at the Birmingham Theatre School and Associate Professor at Calamus International University.I've been fortunate enough to sing at The London Palladium, Blenheim Palace, a raft of West End Theatres and most of the national provincial theatres, amongst loads of other stuff, including several international recording deals, TV and radio along the way. Lucky me :-)Favourite tour ever: singing with Elvis Presley's vocalists, the Sweet Inspirations. You could've shot me then and there and I'd have died happy. They were ace :-)Life is busy, complicated and fun. I'm luckier than most, as I get to do what I love and people seem to want to pay me for it. All good :-) Please check out these websites:www.vidla.orgwww.riakeen.netThis layout is from iloveyourspace.com/MDFodHRwOi8vd3d3LnRoZW1vZGVybnZvY2FsaXN0L mNvbQ==">THE MODERN VOCALIST.com Member Badge

Seasick Steve

So there I was, at The Academy in Brum on saturday night, to see the wonder and joy that is Seasick Steve. Eventually, I did get to see him - for the last ten minutes! Up until that point, I could see...

On The Edge

I was given a copy of Richard Hammond's book "On The Edge" for Christmas. I started in two days ago, and suffice to say I've now read it from cover to cover! Of course, it's interesting to read about...

Merry Christmas to everyone!

I know, I know, pagans don't do Christmas. Well actually, they do - it was ours first! We call it 'Yule' though, and the dates aren't quite the same. That aside, there's not a whole bunch of diff...

Tales from Worcester-under-Water

Well, things have been interesting here in Worcestershire since Friday 20th, when the world became a very wet place indeed. I am lucky: the worst thing I suffered was a flooded cellar (predictable and...

Concert for Diana

Brilliant! Best huge concert event since Live Aid. In particular, I was interested to see how Lee Mead got on. I mean, playing Wembley Stadium is a long way from winning a TV show. I wondered if the n...
