Stella Gadedi

Stella Gadedi was born in Lamia, central Greece. After graduating in flute, she won a French Government scholarship to pursue graduate studies in Ecole Normal in Paris and with Pierre-Yves Artaud. In Greece and abroad she has pursued an active concert, broadcasting and recording career. She has been for many years principal flutist in the Greek Radio Symphony Orchestra and in the Orchestra of Colours and is a Flute Professor at the Athenaeum Conservatory. She has appeared as soloist in the U.K., France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, Sweden etc. Her extensive repertory ranges from pre-classical to avantgarde and she has established a reputation as a virtuoso performer of contemporary music. She has cooperated with most of the leading Greek composers and songwriters (Hadjidakis, Savopoulos, Mamangakis, Karaindrou, Theodorakis, Christou, Kounadis, Markopoulos etc). Besides being a flute soloist, she is also composing and singing.She has recorded five personal albums. 1) “Songs of the period between the wars” (1985 Sirios - EMI), 2) “Solo flute”, with works of J.S. Bach, C.P.E. Bach, Hindemith, Debussy, Luciano Berio etc (1992 Sirios - MBI), 3) “Night Gardens” (1995 Sirios), 4) “The Book of Memories” (2001 Mercury) [available in i-tunes greek store] - the last two albums contain songs composed and sung by her – and 5) “City I” with works for flute and guitar (played by Yorgos Mouloudakis) of Satie, Poulenc, Stravinsky, Piazzolla, Iber etc (Sirios 2004)She is also composing music for theater (2005 - Ritsos, 2008 La Pupee with Anna Kokkinou).
