Bio:
Luz de Luna presents a well-balanced mix of world music, classical music, jazz and a lot of compositions of their own, all brought together in a catching and heartwarming programme. Improvisation always remains the core business.
Chris Ruebens and Peter Verhelst met at the Lemmensinstituut in Leuven where they found each other in their common passion for world music. Despite their different musical backgrounds – Chris studied the classical guitar whereas Peter was in the jazz class – they decided to start Luz de Luna in 1999.
In 2003 the percussionist Yves Peeters was added to the ensemble. He manages to colour the music in his typical subtle style.

Luz de Luna brengt een zorgvuldig gekozen mix van wereldmuziek, klassieke muziek en jazz en heel wat eigen composities die ze handig weten te vermengen tot een aanstekelijk en vaak hartverwarmend geheel. Improvisatie staat hierbij steeds centraal.
Chris Ruebens en Peter Verhelst ontmoetten elkaar op het Lemmensinstituut (Leuven) waar zij elkaar al gauw vonden in hun gedeelde passie voor wereldmuziek. Ondanks hun verschillende muzikale achtergronden – Chris studeerde gitaar in de klassieke afdeling en Peter jazz – besloten ze in 1999 het Luz de Luna gitaarduo op te richten.
Sinds 2003 werd Luz de Luna uitgebreid met drummer/percussionist Yves Peeters die op zijn typerende fijnzinnige manier de muziek smaakvol bijkleurt.
Een concert van Luz de Luna is een intieme en wonderlijke ervaring.
