About Me

Tauern
Lately, my music is leaning more towards the rhythmic side of things. All the way back in 1995, around which time I heard Lifeforms by The Future Sound of London, my midi experimentations where all based around beats and rhythm. I won't say it was anywhere near as good as what FSOL did, but I certainly was inspired.
Searching for my own musical voice, it was ambient music that I started to make. Lately, many of the soundscapes I created for The Chronicles of Spellborn contain passages reminding of my ambient work. In return however, some of the work for Spellborn (which turned out to be rythmic) is now inspiring my own music. Maalbeek already contains loops and patterns, but not yet beats.
Although I consider the tracks I will share over the coming few weeks, far from "album" material, I think they are still interesting enough to share. The music is arranged like I would an album and the name Tauern relates to the many trips we made in a now long gone green BMW, driving from Holland to Austria. The album loosely chronicles the long night of driving through Germany, sleeping most of the way. In the 1970's we still had to travel parts by train but the most exciting thing was always waking up to see mountains everywhere.

Sound deals on Maalbeek!
Shopsonic have two excellent deals on the album Maalbeek which was released earlier this year. One is a money back deal, where you can in send the album back to them if you are not happy with it (just don't tell me as you'll break my heart a little):
Money back offer on Maalbeek!
The other is a 3cd set containing the very melodic co-operative album Electronic Forest and the gorgeously moody Erebus and Terror which in my opinion is the best album out on H/S recordings. It's in the vein of ambient classic albums such as of Stalker.
Electronic Forest, Maalbeek and Erebus and Terror for 15 pounds

Shopsonic Album Page
Features samples of the album and a link to buy it. As always your support is what enables me to release my work, which is greatly appreciated.
Myspace Spotlight
Some personal observations about interesting albums, bands, composers and people I have found right here on myspace.com. If you like what these people make and do; please support them. Not buying or instead downloading their music is really hurting their ability to release regularly or release music at all even.
