About Me

The band were formed in the early 90s after two earlier incarnations featuring the same songwriting team of Sandy & Edd Fyfe had splintered into smithereens. The first incarnation, The Electric Sugar Children, were shambolic art indie-pop, with Mr Paul Sutherland sitting cross-legged stage front peeling off mis-spelt cards containing the lyrics of the songs. The sound matured and Pure were formed with the loss of Suthie and the addition of second guitarist, David Barnett. Badges were made, 'Purezines', radio interviews held, and shows played to varying degrees of success in hometown Perth, plus Glasgow, Dundee and anywhere else that would have us. The band were seen as the enfants terrible of the Perth alternative scene and had great fun playing up to that reputation. The gigs totally served their purpose and the young lads had a cracking sex life for a few months! It all fell apart due to everyone heading in different directions and after a period of sitting in the corner licking their wounds, the Fyfe brothers re-emerged with Greenheart (named after the wonderful poem by Alan Jenkins). The sound was again expanded, the lyrics filled with internal rhymes, and the recordings featured on the Fuzzy peach complilation.. It was always seen as a project to return to, maybe one day.............
