The Hellfire Club

About Me

“ . . . terrific! . . . some of the best country music coming out of Scotland.” Bryan Burnett, Brand New Country, BBC Scotland“ . . . these five boys and one girl give damn fine country. Tipping their hats to Haggard, Williams, Earle, Cash and the mighty gram Parsons, The Hellfire Club still manage to kick around their own effusive cloud of dust, and on songs, ‘Mines rescue Men’ and ‘Moving’ they totally come into their own.” The List“The Hellfire Club are a fine old-fashioned country music combo . . . By preserving their roots in their borrowed musical style The Hellfire Club have succeeded in producing an enjoyable record, which is undeniably country but also unmistakably Scottish.” The Skinny"The Hellfire Club are certainly proving themselves to be one of Scotland's premier bands and on this showing they appear to have a lot to offer the British country music scene" Maverick magazine“The album opens with 'Whiskey Song', which is a short bus ride away from Gram Parsons territory . . . “ Americana-uk websiteIn March of 2005 the band released their first full-length CD. Recorded at Primrose Hill Studios, Inverkip and in the basement of Helen and Willie’s house in Dunoon, and entitled “Wyoming Town Hall,” the ten (self-penned) track CD is a fairly eclectic mix of folk, county, cajun, bluegrass and rock which accurately captures the overall feel of the band’s live performance. The CD was recently played on the Brand New Country show on Radio Scotland and received great reviews from Brian Burnett. It also received a 4/5 review in the July 2006 edition of The List magazine.
