The third season of the Dew Tour is finally here and all the top guys are back to compete for the Dew Cup! For those of you who don’t know what’s up, here’s the abbreviated version of what the Tour is all about. More than 150 of the world's top action sports athletes compete in Skateboarding (Vert and Park), BMX (Vert, Park, and Dirt) and Freestyle Motocross in five different cities from June through October. Winners are determined at each stop and points are given out based on standings. The points are cumulative throughout the season, so at the final stop, the guy with the highest score wins the prestigious Dew Cup, bragging rights for the year, and oh yeah, did we mention the cash? There is $2.5 million in prize money – the largest in action sports – and an additional $1 million bonus pool based upon year-end standings. On top of all the insane competitions, there is a huge outdoor festival with video gaming, BMX and Skate interactive courses, and a two-story, 3,200 square foot House of Dew that features a DJ spinning, an airbrush tattoo parlor, a movie theater and an unlimited supply of Dew. Plus, there’s a live concert on Friday nights with some of today’s biggest artists. Phew. Ok, I’m exhausted just talking about it. Can’t wait for the season to start! Check out the full event and broadcast schedule to make sure you don’t miss out on anything this season.
Last season repeat champs Ryan Sheckler, Bucky Lasek and Jamie Bestwick all walked away with their second Dew Tour titles, while newcomers Anthony Napolitan and Daniel Dhers surprised the vets by taking the Cup in their first big Pro season. Nate Adams edged out his competitors for a Dew Cup win as well. All the athletes deserve major props for throwing some of the most insane tricks and putting together unbelievable runs. Scotty Cranmer, Shaun White, Travis Pastrana, Ryan Guettler, Ryan Nyquist, Dave Mirra and Bob Burnquist are just a few of those athletes we're talking about.
