-CLIP BY CHRIS TOTTERMAN, FILMED LIVE IN A NEWCASTLE ALLEY,
-LIVE AT THE CLIFTON HILL, MELBOURNE, EARLY AUGUST 2007
Jason Lowe,
A 20 year old troubadour from times past,
Soaring emotional songs of poetic power,
Songs of philosophy, spirituality, love, loss, and injustice, all from a humble young character, one of an old kind, and one to watch indeed.
The year of 2007, January, saw Jason whirlwind from an independent painter, selling paintings from his doorstep, to writing songs, learning guitar, and making his way foot wise round Australia once more as he did as a child,
Come the year of 2008, And Jason set out on 5 and a half months of touring,
From Brisbane, to Melbourne, to Adelaide, and every hustling and bustling little town in between all of them,
Jason played two close listened performances at the legendary EAST COAST BLUES AND ROOTS FESTIVAL, along with the likes of Don Maclean, John Fogerty, and John Butler, and was raved about by the festivals director Peter Noble as “A true highlight and talk of the festivalâ€.
Jason played the Port fairy folk festival, Brisbane’s Greenfest, and the Australia day festival in the rocks Sydney, alongside more of Australia’s and internationals heavyweight music acts,
His first release “Before we chase the sky†has sold over 1000 copies independently, as well as his first release of which he drew individual designs on every CD and case that sold in the hundreds, and has seen the tunes gain consistent Triple J airplay and an unearthed No 1 chart ranking.
The EP attracted rave reviews from many including Melbourne radio legend Brian Wise stating,
“From Newcastle NSW, 18 year-old Jason Lowe displays his prodigious talents as a songwriter and lap steel guitarist on this debut release. Resisting the temptation to flaunt his obvious musical gifts, Lowe seduces the listener with his breathy, soulful vocals, and understated guitar...â€
Come the end of 2008 and Jason took out the “Artist of the year award†and “best male vocal†at the Newcastle 1233 ABC music awards, in between more hopping tours round the land.
But more importantly, for the 2 months of August and September 2008, against nearly all of his companions opinions he took to America on a quest for experience, for writing,
to capture an essence from his heroes of the land, and for to cure his unresting need for the ever changing horizon, and the vast stretching of the soul when faced with such wanders.
He found himself crossing the country twice all by rail and 4 ½ day greyhounds, from LA to Seattle, to New York City, to a small alpine town nestled in the rocky mountains of Colorado, gaining the growth he needed to fuel his next release underway for release in mid to late 2009 on ABC records.
This collection of poems more than songs from 2007/08/09 on the road titled “Grey cap times†has proved to cement his foundation in his true road of creative roll,
And if 2009 works out anyway like the previous year, Jason will be well on his way to hearts and souls cross a many way of miles.

"Really beautiful laid back acoustic tune. He's got one of those voices that's totally captivating and his delivery seems effortless - like Whitley and Angus from Angus & Julia Stone."

"Some profound talent lay here. Centred around honesty and lyrically gentle the instrumentally impressive Lowe provides a maturity in a smooth yet lightly sandpaper vocals. Emotive and expressive, this song provides questions and the answer is hidden in the instrumentation."
